Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Website

"Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is based on the concept that one's inner self is composed of various parts, each with its unique perspective, feelings, memories, and goals. IFS is particularly effective in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and a range of other mental health issues, as it promotes self-awareness, self-compassion, and the integration of complex internal dynamics."

Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional families (ACA)
https://adultchildren.org

"ACA is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of people who grew up in dysfunctional homes. We meet to share our experience of growing up in an environment where abuse, neglect and trauma infected us. This affects us today and influences how we deal with all aspects of our lives. ACA provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment that allows us to grieve our childhoods and conduct an honest inventory of ourselves and our family—so we may (i) identify and heal core trauma, (ii) experience freedom from shame and abandonment, and (iii) become our own loving parents.

ARTIST STATEMENT.

In creating this "PSA" as a spec project (a common practice for directors to demonstrate their capabilities), I wanted to address the most difficult aspect of my own trauma recovery– denial.

I avoided getting help for a really long time because a lot of my trauma didn't look the way I thought trauma "should" look. Being introduced to CPTSD has also helped me a lot.

It continues to be my experience that when I come out of denial and accept my trauma for what it is, the healing starts to "flow". I have first hand experience with that being the case for others too.

I hope this finds an audience who needs it.

I hope it creates helpful conversations around trauma and recovery.

And I hope it helps as many as possible to come out of denial so their healing can begin!

Thanks for watching.

And hang in there!

P.S. The resources above have been helpful to me in my journey of healing from trauma. I hope they help you too.
